Be Careful When Taking Food Supplements

October 18, 2018

When it comes to food supplements many people think that it can not hurt and it might help. Well it ain’t necessarily so. Some recent studies have shown that taking folic acid, calcium and selenium supplements may in each instance increase a person’s risk of developing cancer.

The literature is complicated to understand, but the bottom line is that if you eat a healthy well balanced diet you do not need to take additional supplements of these elements. If you have a deficiency of any one of these you should consult your physician for advice.
