The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services published new evidence based guidelines that state a very disturbing fact. Nearly 80 percent of adults in this country are not getting enough exercise for optimal health. The sedentary lifestyle accounts for about $117 billion a yer in health care costs and 10% of all premature deaths.
New guidelines were published based on a comprehensive review of exercise. These are available for you to review. The take away message is that nearly all people benefit from increased amounts of exercise, no matter their age, weight of health status. It was also noted that the steepest reduction in disease risk occurs by simply getting moving.
