Does Stem Cell Therapy Work?

June 29, 2019

The new buzz word on the block for bad hips, knees and other joints is stem cell therapy. In most instances the doctor will draw a sample of your blood and spin it down with a special centrifuge to separate the stem cells. These are then injected into the area that requires treatment.

Many people have become captivated by the idea of using their own stem cells to fix their damaged joint{s}. I have even seen advertisements for stem cell therapy on bill boards in a very small town that we frequently visit.

The problem with stem cell therapy is that there is no clear evidence it works. In fact most researchers in the area are of the opinion that the hype has gotten far ahead of the science.
