Does An Egg A Day Keep The Doctor Away?

October 31, 2019

For certain this is not true. The real question is whether eggs belong in a healthy diet. Eggs are high in cholesterol with about 185 milligrams in the yolk of a large egg. For years eggs were thought to contribute significantly to coronary artery disease and they were out of vogue. Then research suggested that dietary cholesterol found only in animal foods has little effect in most people. The problem seemed to be eating saturated fat rather than dietary cholesterol.

Now it seems as though opinions are changing and that dietary cholesterol may be a problem. The best advice that we can give you was published in the Wellness Letter of the University of California, Berkeley. Limit your egg eating to three to seven a week.
